Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an exciting announcement about “Mission Divyastra,” a game-changing indigenous weapons system that promises to redefine the country’s position on the global stage, especially in Southeast Asia. Developed over ten years by the Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO), the Agni-5 MIRV missile took its inaugural flight. This new weapon system boasts advanced Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology, enabling a single missile to unleash multiple warheads, hitting multiple targets at once, a significant leap in our defense capabilities.
According to government insiders, the technology, which is only possessed by a select few nations, now includes India thanks to the successful test. MIRVs have been a key feature of military capabilities for countries such as the US, UK, Russia, France, and China.
PM Modi expressed his pride in our DRDO scientists for their work on Mission Divyastra and the maiden flight test of the homegrown Agni-5 missile equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology, sharing his thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter.
In a heartfelt statement, President of India, Ms. Droupadi Murmu, emphasized the importance of the first flight test of Agni V within Mission Divyastra, describing it as a pivotal moment in India’s advancement towards a more influential geo-strategic position. She praised the state-of-the-art technology developed locally, seeing it as a significant step towards India’s self-sufficiency. Ms. Murmu conveyed her sincerest congratulations to Team DRDO for their outstanding achievement and expressed her confidence in their ongoing journey towards excellence and independence.
